Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting

HLTAID004 Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting is a new course for educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to response to a First Aid emergency.

This course is conducted over two days with a total course hours of 16.5 hours.

The course covers a range of First Aid management contextualized to children.

The Statement of Attainment includes:

  • HLTAID001 Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • HLTAID002 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
  • HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID004 Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting
  • 22024VIC Course in Emergency Management of Asthma in the Workplace
  • 22099VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis

The assessment includes:

  • Completing a casualty report as part of the practical scenario.
  • The use of automatic external defibrillators (AED) on both adults and children.
  • The administration of Adrenaline auto injectors.
  • The administration of reliever medication for asthma.

NOTE: CPR assessments must be conducted on adult, child and infant manikins with the Adult CPR completed on the floor, and child / infant CPR can be completed on a hard surface.
